the architect at a glance
Designed by Charles and Ray Eames, the DCW was an elegant dining chair crafted in laminated ash plywood. The chair features innovative techniques derived from the couple's research to develop molded plywood splints, stretchers, and experimental glider shells for use during World War II. Manufactured by Herman Miller in 1949, the design was one of the first successful examples of modern furniture produced for a mass market.
