Peter Paul Rubens
June 28

Born on this day in 1577, Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens is perhaps best known for his vibrant and expressive baroque paintings. Often depicting voluptuous nudes with radiant color and movement, such as in his 'The Judgement of Paris' and 'The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus', Rubens influenced generations of painters to follow including Jean-Antoine Watteau, Eugène Delacroix, and Pierre Auguste Renoir.
