Eero Saarinen August 20 Born on this day in 1910, architect Eero Saarinen is perhaps best known for the elegant forms of modern masterpieces such as the TWA Kennedy Terminal Building, Dulles Airport, and the great arch of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis. Eero, son of noted architect Eliel Saarinen (who coincidently shares the same birthday), designed an eclectic array of structures and furniture throughout his brief career... influenced by master architects and designers such as Le Corbusier, Pier Luigi Nervi, and Charles Eames. |
