Andrea Palladio

Born on this date in 1508, Andrea Palladio is one of the most influential and recognized Italian architects. He is perhaps best known for his exquisite Renaissance villas, as well as churches such as San Giorgio Maggiore and Il Redentore. In 1570, Palladio wrote his 'Four Books of Architecture' which summarize his theory of proportion and design.
