World Trade Center September 20 A designer who helped shape the skylines of several American cities, architect Minoru Yamasaki is perhaps best known for the 110 story twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Often working with modern materials such as concrete and steel, his other noted works include the Lambert Terminal Building in St. Louis, American Concrete Institute and Michigan Consolidated Gas buildings in Detroit, as well as the ill-fated Pruitt-Igoe public housing project located in St. Louis, Missouri.
