Charles Bulfinch

Born August 8, 1763, Bulfinch was responsible for much of the character that defined Boston in the early 1800's. His works included several houses near Beacon Hill, Tontine Crescent, Lancaster Meeting House, and the Massachusetts State House. From 1817 to 1830 Bulfinch was also in charge of the work on the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
