the Guggenheim October 21 The last great work of master architect Frank Lloyd Wright, New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is itself a work of art. Opened on this day in 1959, the museum is an elegant spiral of concrete embracing an open atrium space. The Guggenheim was designed by Wright to present the works of avant-garde art as a complete experience. An elevator was taken to the upper floor... with the visitor then following a curving ramp down along gallery spaces until ultimately returning once again to the main level. :: more information about Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater | Postcards |
