a momentary vignette | a brief, beautiful glimpse of architecture, design, and art!

Winchester House
October 31

Constructed from 1884 to 1922 by Sarah Winchester, the 160 room Winchester House is a place of architectural oddities. Guided by a spiritual medium, the Winchester rifle heiress built the Victorian mansion in order to protect herself from the spirits of those killed by rifles manufactured by the company. Covering over six acres, the house features elements such as stairs, windows, doorways, and secret hallways that lead to nowhere... all intended to confuse and discourage any spirits that may seek her.
