John Wellborn Root

Born on this day in 1850, John Wellborn Root was a partner in the prominent architecture firm of Burnham and Root. A musician and artist, the creative influences of Root are apparent in the later designs of the 1892 Monadnock and 1895 Reliance Buildings... among the best examples known as the 'Chicago School of Design'.
