Claude Monet
November 14

Born on this day in 1840, Claude Monet is largely responsible for one of art's biggest 'isms'... Impressionism. His paintings included a series of studies that captured subjects such as the Rouen Cathedral, waterlilles, and haystacks at different times during the seasons. Monet's sketchlike painting style expressed the magical quality of light... rendering his subjects with an engaging sense of spirit and color.
