Tomb of Qin
January 25
Built for Qin Shi Huang Di (259-210 B.C.), founding emperor of the Qin Dynasty, the recently uncovered Tomb of Qin is one of China's most intriguing artifacts. The enormous tomb, covering more than three football fields in area, is guarded by an array of 6,000 life-sized warriors and horses. The clay army is believed to provide protection for the emperor in the afterlife.
