Cass Gilbert
January 27

Born on January 28, 1859, Cass Gilbert is best known for his 1913 Woolworth Building in New York City. The gothic spire of the Woolworth Building was once the tallest building in the world, and features bas-relief caricatures in the lobby... including F.W. Woolworth counting his fortune in nickels and dimes, as well as the architect himself, clutching a model of the building in his hands.
