Alvar Aalto

A native of Finland, Alvar Aalto was born on this day in 1898. Aalto's works are among the most important examples of architecture constructed in this century and are noted for his expressive use of materials and form. Known for his bent plywood furniture as well, Aalto's works include the Säynatsälo Town Hall, Baker House Dormitory at MIT, and the Finlandia Concert Hall in Helsinki.
